Principal's Message

School Excellence Plan

Recently we have updated our School Excellence Plan (SEP). Our three main priorities for the next 4 years are:

1. Student Growth and Attainment: To maximise student achievement and progress in reading and numeracy through our Professional Learning Community (PLC) focused on explicit teaching practices.

2. School Community Wellbeing: Student wellbeing will continue to be a focus through our suite of Social and Emotional Learning programs.

3. High Performance and Gifted Education (HPGE): To enhance our High Performance and Gifted Education (HPGE) opportunities for all students in order to broaden opportunities for student success.

So, what is explicit teaching? Explicit teaching, according to the NSW Department of Education, means that the teacher clearly shows students what they need to learn, why it's important, and how to do it. It's a very clear and direct way of teaching.

Here's what it includes, in simple terms:

  1. Clear learning goals – The teacher tells students exactly what they will learn.
  2. Step-by-step instructions – The teacher explains and shows each part of the task or concept.
  3. Modelling – The teacher shows how to do it first (like giving an example or demonstration).
  4. Practice together – Students and the teacher do the task together before students try it on their own.
  5. Feedback and support – The teacher gives help and feedback along the way to make sure students understand.

The goal is to make sure every student knows what to do and how to succeed.

Mother's Day Breakfast

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Mother's Day breakfast last week. The smiles, hugs, and warmth shared highlighted the caring spirit of our Boambee Public School community.

I would also like to extend a special thanks to our dedicated staff who worked tirelessly to make this event possible. Their commitment, being on the BBQ from 6:45 am, ensured that everything ran smoothly and everyone enjoyed a lovely breakfast.

Thank you all for making this day so special!

P&C Meeting

Our Next P&C Meeting is on May 26, 6pm in the school staffroom. The P&C are doing wonderful things across the school and we would love to have your input and support. Please come and join us for our next meeting.
