Dear BMGS Senior School Community,
I hope the Easter break provided our community with a valuable opportunity for rest, reflection, and reconnection with loved ones. As we step into a new term, there is much to look forward to across the academic, co-curricular, and community life of Blue Mountains Grammar School.
We commenced Term 2 with our ANZAC Assembly—an important BMGS tradition that invites us to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of those who have served our nation.
Thank you to the students and staff who represented the School so respectfully at services throughout the Blue Mountains during the holidays. A special thank you goes to our student leaders for producing a thoughtful and moving commemorative video, which is available on ourbmgs Instagram page.
Our Winter ISA Sport season is underway, with students representing BMGS in football, netball, and hockey. The winter season brings early mornings and cold sidelines—but also moments of growth, resilience, and camaraderie.
I encourage all students to compete with pride, integrity, and sportsmanship, as ambassadors of our school.
We also look forward to the Senior Production, opening on Monday 6th May. Months of hard work by the cast, crew, and production team will culminate in what promises to be a memorable and high-quality performance. I warmly invite our community to attend and support this special event.
BMGS students in Years 10 to 12 are excited to present their 2025 Senior Production of 'Stories in the Dark' by Debra Oswald!
Join us for six incredible performances:
Tuesday, 6th May to Saturday, 10th May - all evening shows at 7:00pm
Saturday, 10th May - special MATINEE at 3:00pm
All performances will be held at The Performing Arts Centre.
Book your tickets now and don't miss this unforgettable experience!
A big thank you to Year 11 student Philippa Groombridge for volunteering her photography skills to help capture the performances.”
📸 School Photo Day – Thursday 8th May
Students must wear full winter uniform, including blazers, and follow all grooming expectations. School photos are a treasured record of each student’s journey at BMGS.
📚 Subject Selection Evenings
Students entering Stage 5 and Stage 6 in 2026, along with their families, are strongly encouraged to attend. These evenings provide valuable insights to help make informed decisions about future academic pathways.
🎓 Year 10 & 12 Careers Expo
This event offers students the opportunity to explore a wide range of post-school pathways, including university, TAFE, apprenticeships, and more.
For Year 11, Term 2 includes two significant milestones:
We are also excited for the Winter Ball on Friday 6th June—a celebration of style, friendship, and shared experience. It promises to be a memorable night for all involved.
Students in Stages 4 and 5 will undertake assessment blocks during Term 2. These assessments are important checkpoints in their academic progress.
We also look forward to welcoming families to our Parent-Teacher Nights for Years 7–11—an important opportunity to connect with staff, discuss student progress, and set goals for the remainder of the year.
We are pleased to welcome Mr Rowley Moore as our Music Teacher for the remainder of 2025, covering for Ms Debbie Smith, who will return next year.
Mr Moore joins us from Swan Christian College, where he most recently led band programs in 2024. He brings rich experience from previous roles at St Stanislaus’ College, Trinity Grammar School, and The McDonald College of Performing Arts. His expertise in classroom teaching, ensemble direction, and music production will be a wonderful asset to our School.
As the term unfolds, I encourage all students to make the most of the many opportunities available—whether in the classroom, on the stage or sports field, or through acts of leadership and service. I look forward to seeing their continued growth throughout Term 2.
Best regards,
Alicia Michielsen
