Year 5

ENGLISH

The Grade 5s have learnt so many new things about unusual animals and the natural wonders of our world. They have shared this awesome knowledge in engaging Information Reports and eye-catching Informative Posters.

We have also started our new class novels for the term. 5A is loving Boy Overboard by Morris Gleitzman and 5B is enjoying Holes by Louis Sachar.

MATHS

Term 2 has started with a fantastic Holiday Habits Project. Students collected data over the school holidays about their activities, mood and sleep. They have represented this information in a variety of graphs and analysed the patterns they notice. Everything has been collated in a colourful design project that they have worked very hard on!

INTEGRATED

Our topic for Integrated this term is History Makers. The students are being taken back in time to revisit some of the most interesting and influential events in Australian history. So far we have explored:

  • Aboriginal custodianship
  • British arrival and settlement
  • The Rum Rebellion
  • Batman's Treaty
  • The Gold Rush

These three 90-minute sessions are a great opportunity for students to be given inclusive and age-appropriate information about puberty, body safety and consent.

Winter Interschool Sports has begun! Students are training in their new sports teams ready for our two Gala Days in June. We can't wait for the fun games and friendly competition between our local schools!
