Co-curricular - Junior Sport Stage 3

With rain in the air and the threat of more washouts, Saturday morning saw the sun rise and clear skies greet the Junior School teams. All grounds remained open and allowed all scheduled games to go ahead. It was great to see and hear of all the support for our teams, and games were played with terrific spirit. The effort was visible the enthusiasm was palpable and the smiles on the faces said more than words could describe. There are great signs for the season ahead.
The draw for this weekend has been emailed to all students in the Junior School today and placed on the SPC App. There is also a map of Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview and of Queens Park to assist with finding grounds this weekend. Please allow some extra time to find parking if traveling to inner city venues.
Athletics Carnival
The Junior School Athletics Carnival will be held in Week 8 this term. Sign-up sheets have been made available to all boys to register for events and trials. There will be no entries allowed after this Friday 16 May, so please make sure your sons have signed up to championship events they wish to participate in. All Junior School boys will be expected to participate in a 100m, 200m sprint, as well as the house novelty and tug-o-war events. Further details and programs will come out closer to the date.
CIS Trials
Earlier this week, a number of boys from Year 6 travelled out to St Mary’s to participate in the CIS Rugby League trials. In unseasonably warm weather, the boys worked hard showing off all their skills. With a large number of large students coming from all over NSW to trial, making the team was always going to be a challenge. All our boys made it through to the rounds of games and were up for selection for the final selection game. After all the trialling was completed, Sebastian Perez was selected in the representative CIS Rugby League team. Sebastian will go on to play a little later in the term. We congratulate all the boys on representing the College so well at the trials.
