School Noticeboard

Child Safety at Moama Anglican Grammar

Child safety continues to be a priority at our school, as discussed in the School Noticeboard section of our 21 March newsletter. In that edition, we featured what our school is doing to implement Child Safe Standards 1 and 2. In today’s newsletter, we will outline the actions we have taken to address Child Safe Standard 3.

Standard 3: Families and Communities are Informed and Involved.

At Moama Anglican Grammar:

  • We have child safety policies that are accessible on our school website: https://www.moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au/about-us/strategic-plan-and-policies/
    • Statement of Commitment to Child Safety
    • Parent and Guardian Code of Conduct
    • Code of Conduct for Contractors, Volunteers and Visitors
    • Student Code of Conduct
    • Procedures for Handling Allegations of Staff Misconduct and Reportable Conduct
    • Complaints Handling Policy
  • We encourage families to take an active role in keeping children safe, for example, through our Volunteer Induction.
  • We invite families and community members to provide feedback on our child safety practices, and this feedback is reviewed and acted upon as needed.
  • Families are kept informed about how our school is meeting the NSW Child Safe Standards through regular updates in the school’s newsletter.

The NSW Child Safe Standards were introduced to ensure that schools are not only compliant but, more importantly, actively doing everything they can to keep students safe. At Moama Anglican Grammar, we take this responsibility very seriously. As always, our highest priority is to support and safeguard the wellbeing of every student in our care.

If you have any queries about child safety at our school, please do not hesitate to contact me at kkemp@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au or a member of our Executive Team.

Do It For Dolly Day – Standing Together for Kindness by Chloe Macknight

This Friday 9 May, the Senior School will come together to support Do It For Dolly Day – a national initiative that encourages communities to spread kindness and stand up against bullying, in honour of Dolly Everett. Dolly was a kind, spirited young girl whose life was tragically cut short due to relentless bullying. In her memory, this day reminds us all of the importance of compassion, respect, and looking out for one another.

To mark the occasion, students and staff in the Senior School will be participating in a sausage sizzle fundraiser. A sausage in bread will cost $3, or 2 for $5. Not only will this provide an opportunity to share a meal together, but every dollar raised will go directly to the Dolly's Dream Foundation. The foundation works to educate and empower young people, families and schools to create positive change and promote safe, supportive environments—both online and offline.

More than just a fundraiser, Do It For Dolly Day is an opportunity for us to reflect on the way we treat others and recommit to creating a culture where kindness prevails. Later in the term, the Junior and Senior schools will have a casual dress day, with all proceeds raised going to Dolly’s Dream Foundation.

Last year, over 300 sausages were sold. We were fortunate enough to receive bread and sausage donations from Moama Bakery and Moama Quality Meats, as well as a very generous donation from Hammond Providore, which enabled us to raise $782.40 to support Dolly’s Dream. This year, we aim to raise $ 1,000. If you would like to support this important cause, you can make a donation using the link below.

Let’s stand together, support one another, and choose kindness—because together, we can make a difference.
