Primary School

I would like to welcome families back to Term 2, and I hope everyone enjoyed the change in routine that the two weeks term break provided. A special welcome to the new students and their families who have joined us this term: Abigail, Lou and Suzu.
As I walk around the school grounds and visit various classes, it is wonderful to see how quickly and smoothly both students and staff have settled back into their classroom routines.
PAT Assessments
This week, students completed a series of adaptive PAT assessments in their classrooms. PAT evaluates students’ knowledge, understanding, and abilities across various domains from Kindergarten to Year 10, supporting the tracking of students' progress over time. Staff use the data and results from these assessments as a benchmarking tool and, importantly, to inform the development of targeted learning opportunities for individual students.
Year 5 Tie Tying Masterclass with Mr D
As the cooler months settle in and our winter uniform season begins, Year 5 students were treated to a very special tradition on Tuesday: a tie-tying masterclass with Mr D, who has proudly prepared generations of students for this moment over the past 20 years. With his usual charm and enthusiasm, Mr D guided the students through each step of properly tying a school tie, making the lesson both practical and highly entertaining.
The session wasn’t just about neat knots and smart presentation—it was also a journey through fashion history. Mr D captivated the students with the origin stories behind some of his most treasured ties, including one gifted to him decades ago and another worn during significant life and school events. To the amazement of students (and staff!), he also revealed his personal tie collection, boasting hundreds of colourful, quirky and classic designs.
Students left the lesson not only confident in their tie-tying skills but also with a newfound appreciation for this unique part of their school uniform. We thank Mr D for once again sharing his time, stories and signature style with us.
"This term, all year five students undertook a masterclass on ‘how to tie a tie.’ It was a super fun class with the one and only Mr Davidson. We spent the whole afternoon tying the ties and having fun. Mr Davidson has been teaching the Year Five cohort how to tie a tie for two decades now, which is a massive achievement considering the school has only been running for 20 years.
Mr Davidson has a big collection of ties, which has grown to 500. He showed us all his special ties, and he even showed us the one he wore on his wedding day; it was all colourful and bright. At the end of the session, we all received Mentos, and he revealed the mystery of how to tie a tie to us. Although Mr Davidson could have been doing a lot of other stuff, he chose to help us out, which we really value. We learnt a lot about ties, we even knew which material is ideal for tying a simple knot. We would like to send a big thanks to Mr Davidson and lots of appreciation for his help. Happy tie tying."

GRIP Leadership
Today, our Year 6 Student Leaders participated in the annual GRIP Leadership Conference in Shepparton. The purpose of the conference was to help Year 6 leaders develop their leadership skills while collaborating and connecting with other young leaders from across the region.
The goal was for students to leave with a clear vision, a strong understanding, and a range of practical ideas to help them grow in their leadership roles throughout the remainder of the year.

Stage 1 Assembly
Well done to 1A for leading the first Stage 1 Assembly of Term 2. Students in 1A beautifully read the Acknowledgement of Country and impressed the audience with their vocabulary, drawn from the book they have been studying, 'The Story About Ping' by Marjorie Flack. We learnt about Ping, a spirited little duck who lived on a boat on the Yangtze River.
The assembly concluded with the presentation of the Stage 1 Super Star Awards to this week’s worthy recipients. Congratulations to the students below.

Stage 2 Assembly
On Wednesday, Stage 2 came together for their first assembly of Term 2, proudly hosted by Sadie and Margot from 3A. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate students across the Stage who have been outstanding citizens, demonstrating our MAG core values of Respect and Compassion.
We also enjoyed a lively game of Bobs and Statues, which brought plenty of smiles and laughter! A big well done to 3A for leading the assembly with confidence and enthusiasm, a fantastic start to the term!
Complimentary Preschool Workshops
Over the next few weeks, staff and Year 6 leaders will visit many of the local Preschools and Kindergartens to deliver a variety of complimentary workshops. These workshops are part of an initiative that aims to continue strengthening our connections with local preschools, kindergartens and the wider community.
Message from the Office
At Moama Anglican Grammar, the wellbeing and safety of our students, families and staff is always our highest priority. During drop-off and pick-up times, we understand that the Primary carpark can become a particularly busy and high-traffic area. Our goal is to maintain a safe and efficient environment while reducing stress and potential hazards for all members of our community.
To support this, an email was shared with Primary families today that explained the vehicle and pedestrian traffic flow. I ask that you take a moment to review the maps included in this email to support us in achieving our goal.
We warmly invite you to join us for our Annual Mother’s Day Breakfast on Friday 9 May, commencing at 7:30 am. It’s a special occasion where we celebrate the incredible women in our school community. We have re-opened RSVPs for the breakfast until Monday 5 May, you can RSVP here.
To make the morning even more meaningful, we’re seeking volunteers (dads in particular) —to assist with preparing egg and bacon rolls. If you know a dad who is available, please ask them to email at communications@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au so we can coordinate tasks accordingly. The support of our Moama Anglican Grammar dads is most appreciated.
