Wellbeing Term 2

Our Wellbeing program in Year 5 & Year 6 is based on our SWPBS and Respectful Relationships programs.
With our SWPBS program, our children focus on our school's values of: Be a Learner, Be Responsible, Be Respectful and Be Safe.
Our Year 5 & 6 children practise these values in lessons and also are reminded of our school values with our individual and class reward tokens, signage, and displays throughout the school.
Respectful Relationships, Positive Coping, and Problem Solving
This term, our Wellbeing focus for Grade 5/6 students will center around building and maintaining Respectful Relationships, while equipping students with Positive Coping strategies and effective Problem Solving techniques.
Respectful Relationships:
Students will explore the key elements of Respectful Relationships, emphasizing the importance of kindness, empathy, and communication. Through discussions and activities, we will explore how to build strong, positive relationships with peers, family members, and teachers. We will also focus on understanding how to respect differences and show appreciation for one another’s perspectives.
Positive Coping:
We will equip students with practical strategies to cope with challenges and stress. The focus will be on recognizing emotions, expressing feelings constructively, and using tools such as deep breathing, mindfulness, and physical activity to manage difficult situations. Students will learn how to develop a toolkit of healthy coping strategies to support their mental and emotional wellbeing.
Problem Solving:
Students will practice Problem Solving techniques that encourage critical thinking and collaboration. They will engage in activities where they will:
- Identify and assess problems they may face in school or daily life
- Explore potential solutions and outcomes
- Practice decision-making skills to choose the best course of action
- Reflect on the results and what they could do differently next time
By the end of the term, students will feel more confident in their ability to handle challenges, communicate respectfully with others, and manage their emotions in a positive and healthy way.
We are excited for the students to develop these essential life skills and continue their growth in fostering positive relationships and self-awareness!
