Inquiry Term 2

Health Heroes: Making a Difference in Our Wellbeing
What’s Coming Up
This term, our Grade 5/6 students will begin their Health unit with a retreat day, designed as an immersion experience to spark curiosity, build connections, and set the foundation for their inquiry learning. Throughout the term, students will explore how identities are influenced by the people and places around them. They will investigate strategies and resources to support their health, safety, and wellbeing, and plan and practise actions that promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
Aligned with our inquiry approach, students will develop skills to establish and manage relationships, investigate how emotional responses influence behaviour and wellbeing, and consider how media and key community figures shape personal attitudes, beliefs, and decisions.
Students will also explore the role of preventive health, the benefits of outdoor activities, and the importance of celebrating diversity to strengthen community connections.
We look forward to seeing students take ownership of their learning and apply their understandings in meaningful ways.
Some questions we will delve into are :
- What types of health resources are available in our community and beyond? (e.g., doctors, hospitals, mental health services, nutrition programs)
- How can the use of resources support our health?
- How can research methods enhance our understanding of health?
- What can you create to contribute to our community's health resources?
Towards the end of the Term, we will all explore a personal area of interest from the unit. Teachers look forward to seeing how our children present their knowledge to their peers.
