EXCITEMENT WAS AUDIBLE: MR ACKLOM’S SHAVE - BOWEL CANCER AWARENESS

Our lunchtime last Thursday was truly unforgettable as Mr. Acklom courageously took a seat while students took turns shaving his head. This heartwarming initiative was aimed at raising funds for bowel cancer research and honoring a beloved teacher from Carnegie Primary School, Champs, who bravely battled the disease. It was a touching tribute that highlighted our school community's compassion and support during difficult times.

Approximately $1500 was raised. Thanks Mr Acklom for your initiative and being so brave. Bald suits you!!

ROBINA STATE HIGH SCHOOL

Last Thursday, Carnegie Primary School was ‘wowed’ by Robina  State High School Band. What an upbeat start to the term! We trust that everyone who attended enjoyed the performance. We look forward to welcoming them back to  Carnegie in the future!

TEACHING EXCELLENCE PROGRAM 2025

Our school values the learning and development of our staff, and the positive impact this has on student outcomes and school improvement.

We are proud to share that Mr Nathan has begun his  professional learning journey through the Teaching Excellence Program at the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership.

This program enables teachers to advance their capabilities and excellence in teaching.

Through the program, Mr Nathan will grow his  knowledge of teaching practice by participating in 10 in person days of professional learning and inquiring deeply into 2 areas of their practice, using the evidence-informed practice, generative AI, First Nations’ perspectives, student engagement tools and discipline-specific learning. They will also be inspired by national and international experts in the field of education through 2 dedicated conferences.

We look forward to working with Mr Nathan to implement their knowledge and skills from the program to continue to support student outcomes and wellbeing at our school.

DET ACCOUNTABILITY AND ANNUAL REPORTING

As part of accountability requirements, a report is provided to the school community each year for the previous year. This Annual Report was submitted to the Department of Education and will be further examined with the School Council at our May meeting. This report is now available on request from the office and has been placed on our school website.

Copies of our Strategic Plan and 2025 Annual Implementation Plan are also available for viewing on our website. These important documents outline the key goals and priorities that Carnegie Primary School is focusing on.

CURRICULUM DAY - NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS

The next Curriculum Day is this Thursday 1st May. On this occasion staff will once again be working with Dr Nathaniel Swain on our whole school approach to ‘Checking for Understanding’ linked to our teaching practices including our teachers’ ability to scaffold and stretch.

Youth Leadership will offer an OSHC program on this day. Please be sure to book.

With thanks,
