Overview

The SIT30122 Certificate III in Tourism equips students with essential skills for a successful career in the travel and tourism industry. This hands-on course covers customer service, selling and quoting skills, and the promotion of tourism products. Students will explore Australian and international destinations while learning industry-relevant techniques. As part of the VET Delivered to Secondary School Students program, integrated with VCE or VCE VM studies, this certificate opens pathways to further travel and tourism studies and career opportunities.

Studying the Certificate III in Tourism at Holmesglen equips students with valuable foundational skills for the travel and tourism industry. In this hands-on course, students learn to evaluate and integrate information from a range of texts, including brochures, online resources, industry systems, and trade publications. 

 

Practical tasks involve creating travel plans, interpreting data from charts and schedules, and utilising an industry booking system to book flights and issue domestic air tickets. Holmesglen’s supportive learning environment features specially designed facilities and experienced teachers who guide students through real-world scenarios. 

 

Offered as part of the VET Delivered to Secondary School Students program, the course can be completed within VCE or VPC studies, with successful graduates earning credits towards their diploma and expanding career opportunities in the tourism industry.

Entry Requirements

To enrol in the SIT30122 Certificate III in Tourism, learners must be currently enrolled as a Year 10-12 secondary school student.The secondary school determines the suitability of all learners to undertake this course.

 

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs

Assessment

This program is not a scored study. Students who successfully complete the Unit 3 & 4 sequence will receive one ATAR increment, which is calculated as 10 per cent of the fourth-ranked study score from the student's 'top four' Unit 3 & 4 studies.

 

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
