A Word from the Principal

Megan Richardson

Last Sunday, on November 2, Catholics around the world paused to remember and pray for all who have gone before us - our loved ones, friends, mentors, and members of our faith community who have died. All Souls’ Day is a time of hope and compassion, reminding us that death is not an end, but a continuation of life with God.

As Catholics, we believe in the communion of saints - that the living and the departed remain united through Christ’s love. Our prayers on this day are acts of mercy and faith, guiding souls toward the eternal light of heaven. We are invited to look beyond our own lives and see the greater story of God’s love and redemption - a love that embraces every soul, even beyond this life.

I encourage families to take quiet moments this week to remember those who have shaped their lives with love, wisdom, and faith. Let us give thanks for their presence among us and entrust them to God’s eternal care. Families might choose to share cherished memories or photos, visit meaningful places, or light a candle in remembrance of those they hold dear.

Loving and merciful God,
On All Souls’ Day, we remember all those who have died.
We thank You for the gift of their lives and for the love they shared with us.
Welcome them into Your heavenly home,
where there is no more suffering, pain, or sorrow,
but only the joy of Your eternal presence.
Grant comfort to those who mourn,
and strengthen our faith in the promise of resurrection.
May we live each day with hearts open to Your grace,
and may our lives be a reflection of Your love,
until we are reunited with all those we have loved in
Your Kingdom of peace.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Enrolments for 2026

Enrolment places for 2026 and 2027 are steadily filling, particularly in Kindergarten and Years 5, 6 and 7.  If you have a student enrolling at Mount Carmel, we encourage you to reach out and complete an enrolment form to avoid disappointment.  We anticipate wait lists in many classes and completing forms early ensures even family members and students of our alumni do not miss out.

Current families are reminded that they need to submit enrolment applications for siblings. Existing enrolments of older siblings does not guarantee an automatic enrolment of younger siblings as our enrolment process is governed by Catholic Education Tasmania. Each sibling application needs to be lodged separately.

Uniform Reminder

Please be reminded that nose piercings are not part of the College uniform at Mount Carmel College. Students must wear a clear retainer and will receive a uniform infringement if they are not covered. We thank families for supporting our uniform expectations.

Social Media Delay

In the coming week, we will share important information and resources with families to support the social media delay for all students under the age of 16. We encourage students to begin saving any special memories as we work together in partnership to implement this government initiative.
