Principal's Message

Mr Adam Beilken

Dear Parents, Caregivers, and School Community,

As we move through the term, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful learning, growth, and community spirit we continue to see across Marangaroo Primary School. Our students have been engaging enthusiastically in classroom activities, showing resilience, kindness, and a strong commitment to their learning.

Today we had the first transition day for the 2026 Kindergarten cohort. It was wonderful seeing all the children in the Possums classroom and look forward to seeing you all at the next session on Wednesday 3 December.

Coloured Sand

You may have seen reports about an ACCC product safety recall for coloured sand that may contain asbestos. Please be assured we have implemented all recommended actions and, as an extra precaution, applied them to all coloured sand on site. The Departments of Education and Health are working closely together on this issue, and we will provide further updates as required.

Planning for 2026

Kindergarten enrolments for 2026 are still open. We currently have 15 students enrolled for 2026, leaving space for only 5 more children. If you or someone you know has a child turning four before 30 June 2026, please visit the office to collect an enrolment pack.

The administration team is well into planning for the 2026 academic year. If you are looking to leave Marangaroo Primary School at the end of the year, can you please inform the school as soon as possible. This will enable us to identify classroom structures and plan for staff placement.

To support students with their transition to 2026, we will be holding a whole-school transition session on Monday 2 December from 9.00am–10.00am. Students will move to the block where we expect their 2026 class to be located and complete an “All About Me” activity, which will be displayed in classrooms at the start of next year.

School Board

Catherine Smith (Parent Representative) and Alison Moss (Community Representative) will conclude their tenures on the School Board at the end of this year. Catherine, who is currently serving as School Board Chair, has advised that she will not be seeking re-election and will step down from her role at the end of the year. I would like to sincerely thank Catherine for her dedication and the significant contributions she has made to the Board, particularly in her role as Chair this year. Her commitment has been greatly appreciated by our school community. I would also like to thank Alison in her role as community representative over the last 5 years.

With Catherine stepping down and Alison’s position becoming vacant in 2026, we are now calling for nominations to fill these positions for the 2026 School Board. The School Board plays an important role in strengthening the connection between the school, families, and the wider community.

If you are interested in nominating, please complete the nomination form attached to this newsletter. Forms can be submitted to me in person or via email at Adam.Beilken@education.wa.edu.au. Nominations close at 3.00pm on Friday 5 December. If more nominations are received than positions available, an election will be held during the final week of the school year, with successful nominees notified prior to the end of term.

Arrival at School

During morning visits to classrooms, I have noticed that some classes have fewer than 10 students present when the bell rings at 8.45am. It is important that students arrive between 8.30am and 8.45am, as this time is used by teachers to settle students, build connections, and prepare them for the day’s learning. Your support in establishing a consistent morning routine is greatly appreciated.

City of Wanneroo Mayor’s Christmas Appeal

Marangaroo Primary School is proud to support the City of Wanneroo Mayor’s Christmas Appeal. Our donation bin, located in the Administration building, is already filling with generous contributions from our community. If you would like to support families experiencing hardship, donations of non-perishable food, clothes, toys, and essential items are welcomed. The final collection will be on Tuesday 25 November.

School Disco

This Friday, the P&C will host the school disco from 5.00pm to 6.30pm. The P&C will have items available for purchase throughout the evening. Entry will be via the normally locked gate near the undercover area by the staff carpark. Families attending are asked to please supervise any younger or older siblings. Last year we had older siblings roaming the school grounds, and we wish to ensure all attendees remain in the area immediately surrounding the undercover area.

Book Award Assembly

This year’s book award assembly will be held on Tuesday 9 December. This assembly will start at 9.00am in the undercover area. All classes will perform an item before the awards are presented. The theme of the event will be showcasing songs throughout the decades.

Social Media Restrictions

From Wednesday 10 December, the Australian Government will introduce new restrictions preventing children under the age of 16 from creating or maintaining accounts on major social media platforms. The responsibility for enforcing age limits will fall to the social media companies themselves. These restrictions apply to: Facebook, Instagram, Kik, Reddit, Snapchat, Threads, TikTok, X, and YouTube.

Support for families can be found through the eSafety Commissioner website:

Save the Date – 2026 Classroom Open Afternoon

We are pleased to continue the initiative introduced this year, opening classrooms to students and families ahead of the new school year. Our 2026 Open Afternoon will take place on Friday 30 January 2026 from 2.00pm–3.00pm. Families will be able to drop off booklists and personal items and meet their child’s teacher for the 2026 school year.
