Deputy Principal

Year 8 and 11

As we welcome our Year 12 students to the start of this pivotal twelve months, I want to take a moment to share some advice and encouragement to help you achieve your best during the HSC journey ahead.

Year 12 is a unique year filled with opportunities for growth, learning, and achievement. It can also be a demanding time, so it’s important to approach it with a clear plan, balance, and a positive mindset.

Here are some key tips to help you succeed:

  1. Set Clear Goals: Begin the year by setting achievable, specific goals. Whether it’s improving in a particular subject, mastering key skills, or managing your study time more effectively, clear goals help keep you focused and motivated.
  2. Develop a Study Routine: Consistency is essential. Establish a study schedule that works for you, breaking your workload into manageable chunks. Regular short study sessions are often more effective than long, last-minute cramming.
  3. Use Available Resources: Your teachers and our Wellbeing team are available. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, seek feedback, or get extra help when needed.
  4. Take Care of Your Wellbeing: Balance study with rest, exercise, and social time. Maintaining your physical and mental health is crucial for sustaining concentration and managing exam stress.
  5. Practice Past Papers: Familiarise yourself with the exam format and types of questions by practising past HSC papers. This builds confidence and identifies areas where you may need further review.
  6. Stay Positive and Resilient: Challenges will arise, but perseverance makes a difference. Remember that setbacks are part of learning and growth.

As a teacher and Deputy Principal, I see every day how determination and hard work lead to success. The HSC is important, but it’s also just one step in your lifelong journey. Approach it with commitment, but also remember to celebrate your progress along the way.

To parents and carers, your support and encouragement are invaluable. Together, we can create a strong foundation for our boys to thrive.

If you or your family has any questions or needs additional support, please reach out to the school. We are here to help you every step of the way.
