Grade 1

Students had a deliciously fun learning experience as part of our Chemical Science unit!

With the help of some wonderful parent volunteers, the children explored the science behind baking cupcakes. As we mixed, stirred, and baked, students discovered that the properties of objects and mixtures can be quite different from the materials they’re made from. For example, flour, milk, and sugar each have their own unique characteristics—but when combined and baked, they transform into something entirely new: cupcakes!

A huge thank you to our parent helpers who made this experience possible.

Grade 2

The Grade 2s have been working with the Earth’s natural resource, clay! Check out their amazing ornaments representing the many resources we have available from our planet.

Grade 3

To celebrate Earth Science Week, our Grade 3 students got hands-on with a tasty twist—making edible rocks! This fun and educational activity tied in beautifully with our previous learning about rocks and heat.

Grade 4

We have been learning about the properties of materials and have recently explored the properties of electrical conductivity and magnetism. Did you know the metal aluminium is a conductor to electricity, but it is not attracted to magnets?

Grade 5

We are learning about mixtures and solutions! What better way than to complete an experiment with jelly and 100s and 1000s! If you have a lemon tree, we would love to have some of your lemons! Lemonade is next solution to explore on our list!

Grade 6

The Grade 6s are learning about electricity this term and have had the opportunity to put together a simple circuit to light up a bulb. Watch our electricians develop in the coming weeks as they add in switches, buzzes and create a lemon battery! (Another reason we need lemons!)
