We have had a fun time in English these past two weeks. Firstly our writing involved creating a narrative describing what it would be like to be locked in overnight at the shops. Such as Centrepoint, Tamworth being able to go to the movies and bowling. Big W, playing at EB games, and of course the food that was available to them.
We have also enjoyed time learning about the lazy vowel sound named Schwa, making the sound of ‘uh’ on the end of words. Such as: a, or, ar, er, ure, our. The schwa allows us to say words and sentences more quickly, as the unstressed vowel is pronounced with less effort which is very easy to do, particularly in Australia. We have learned some spelling tips so we remember to use the correct one. One tip in particular we had fun with was when we used our ‘spelling voice’.
In Geography we have been working on a mini research project about a place we like to visit. It’s been hard to keep them on track with regards to discussing geographical features rather than their favourite shops etc. This opportunity has improved our skills for gathering information and putting it in our own words and labelling photos accurately.
Finally what a great day we had at the touch football gala day. It was hot but ‘my’ team did not let the heat stop them from trying their best. We scored the most tries in our last game, one of which Eddie nearly had to run the entire field. Everyone was a great sport all round.
