Mandarin
Our Prep students have been learning colours in Mandarin this week! Through songs, games, and flashcards, they are now able to recognise and say a range of colours with growing confidence. It’s been wonderful to see their excitement as they connect each colour to familiar objects around them.
Our Grade 1/2 students continued learning about the four seasons and focused on expressing their preferences using full Mandarin sentences. They practised explaining why they like a particular season, using the conjunction 因为 (because).
It’s been wonderful to see students confidently sharing their ideas and building longer, more meaningful sentences in Mandarin!
This week, our Grade 3/4 students have been learning about transportation and locations in Mandarin. They practised forming full sentences to describe how they travel to different places using various forms of transport.
It’s been wonderful to see them confidently combine vocabulary to create meaningful and practical sentences!
This week, our Grade 5/6 students practised using their past-tense language skills by writing a recount of their weekend in Mandarin. They described where they went, what they did, and who they spent time with, using full sentences and familiar vocabulary.
It was great to see students confidently sharing their experiences and applying what they’ve learned in a real-life context!
You are all amazing!

Physical Education
Level F- 2
Our Foundation to Year 2 students will continue to explore target games over the next fortnight, with a special focus on teamwork, creativity, and having fun! Working in small groups, students will begin to revisit their FMS and ball skills to prepare for assessments towards the end of the term.
Level 3 & 4
Our Level 3 and 4 students have just finished working with coaches Jack and Austin from MCC Lacrosse, who introduced us to the exciting sport of lacrosse. Students had a lot of fun learning about Lacrosse - which is great preparation for interschool sport next year. Over the next fortnight, students will start to revise their FMS and ball skills in preparation for assessments towards the end of the term.
Level 5 and 6
Our Level 5 and 6 students will revisit the game of flag football over the next fortnight. Flag football is a modified game based on American Gridiron. There has been huge engagement from students so far which has been exciting to see! Flag Football has required students to work as part of a team and adopt different strategies to become successful. We will continue to build on these skills moving forward in preparation for assessments towards the end of the term.

Science
Our Foundation students have been looking at the impact that litter makes in the sea. We have used the book: The Mess That Made Me, to inspire lots of discussions. The students have created a sea and added litter to the beautiful ocean. We looked at how litter effects the sea creatures and underwater environment.
Our wonderful, I Sea, I Care leaders came in today and taught the Foundation students about pollution in the sea.
We also loooked at how we can play our role in keeping the sea clean.
Look out for Weeks 8 - 10 where we will be working on the theme with the whole school: It Only Takes One.
