Principal's Page

Dear Parents and Friends,
Our Grandparents and Great People Day on Friday, 24 October, was a wonderful day. It is one of the highlights of the year and we are grateful to those who were able to attend. We shared a beautiful liturgy, celebrated our learning in classrooms and enjoyed a picnic lunch together.
A special thank you to Mr and Mrs Wade, grandparents of Chelsea and Ben, who delivered a heartfelt and meaningful speech on their role as grandparents.
Formation of Classes for 2026
Teachers will soon begin preparing class lists for 2026 and will adhere with the school’s Formation of Classes Policy. Whilst teachers have the knowledge to best place students into classes, there may be extenuating circumstances where parents may make a request regarding class placement.
It is not appropriate to make a request for your child to be with their friends or your preferred teacher. Teachers will ensure your child is placed with a friend.
All requests regarding a child’s placement should be in writing and addressed to the Principal by Friday, 21 November 2025. After this date, classes will be formed and changes will not be possible.
Whilst parental requests are considered, there is never a guarantee that they will be granted. Please be aware that there may be circumstances surrounding requests that prevent them from being granted.
Staffing 2026
Whilst the finalisation of staffing continues, I am pleased to announce the Kindergarten teachers for 2026:
KJ - Mrs Kalinikos
KM - Mrs Greenwood
Diverse Learning Support Teaching - Mrs Matthews
Our 2026 Kindergarten Transition to School Program has begun with our Transition to School Playgroups. Announcing the Kindergarten teachers at this point will enhance the success of this Program.
Parents & Friends Association Annual General Meeting
The main purpose of a Parents and Friends Committee (P&F) is to support and enhance the school community through active collaboration between parents, carers and school staff. Our P&F Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 19 November, 2025, beginning at 7.00pm in the school hall.
At this meeting, we will be voting in executive positions for the 2026 school year as well as voting on the financial support that will be committed to the school next year. Everyone will be warmly welcomed.
2025 Annual Improvement Plan
Goal: Students will be challenged in their learning, to ensure continual growth and achievement.
Progress Update:
K-2 Learning Walk - our school-wide pedagogical approach was evident inclusive of Explicit Teaching and the use of Worked Examples. Students were engaged in Mathematics lessons during this Learning Walk.
Progressive Achievement Test (PAT) Reading and Mathematics - Students in Years 1-6 are currently completing PAT Reading and Mathematics tests. Student results will be analysed to determine individual learning growth and to evaluate the impact of teacher professional learning on improving student outcomes.
Moderating Writing Samples - teachers have been engaged in a series of professional learning sessions focusing on developing a process that ensures consistent teacher judgement in Writing assessment against NESA standards. This is achieved by teachers collaboratively analysing a range of students’ writing samples against the common grade scale descriptors (Extensive through to Elementary) using Syllabus outcomes and content descriptors. This will ensure consistent teacher judgement across cohorts.
Recent Staff Professional Learning
Research tells us that the quality of the teacher is the greatest in-school influence on student achievement. Therefore high quality professional learning for teachers must be a priority to ensure improved teacher practice that leads to improved student learning growth. Professional learning undertaken by our staff over the past fortnight includes:
20 October 2025 - 24 October 2025 - MSL Training
Mrs Greenwood & Mrs Liplyn
27 October 2025 - Principal’s Meeting
Mrs Duffin
School Assemblies
Our next whole school assembly will be held Friday 7 November at 2pm. All are welcome!

How does my child receive a Principal's Award?
Class teachers nominate students for Blue Merit Awards which are presented at the weekly assembly. When five Blue Merit Awards have been received, students send them to the school office to be recorded and are then eligible for a Principal’s Award. When students attain their 4th Principal Award, they are awarded a Principal’s Medallion at an assembly. End of Term awards can be included as part of the 5 awards. Please see the "School Handbook" for a full list of eligible awards.
