MEBS - A Legacy of Excellence
Welcome to the latest edition of Boarders' Buzz for 2025.
The Year 12 Boarders have completed their exams and left MEBS. We wish them all the best for their future journeys. The new Year 12's are well underway with the first term of their 2026 HSC studies and adjusting to new levels of academic rigour.
Our Boarders in general, have been waiting for the warm November temperatures, but instead have been met with more wintry weather, preventing their use of the pool. Hot weather should be with us soon.

Today as we share this Boarders' Buzz we celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
This memorial commemorates the tradition that Mary, as a child, was dedicated to God in the Temple in Jerusalem by her parents, Joachim and Anne. It is celebrated in the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches and honours Mary's lifelong devotion to God
Boarders Mass
The Boarders' Mass was celebrated this week by Bishop Mark Edwards on Wednesday, 19 November, in the Mount Erin Chapel. The Mass began at 5 pm, followed by dinner in the Dining Room at 6.00 pm. Parents. Carers/families joined us along with our special guests for both Mass and Dinner. The Mass included the blessing of the Boarding Leaders and their badges of office. It was excellent to have the participation and support of Boarders from different year levels. More photos in the House pages.

Amanda Hilton
It is with sadness that I announce that our Boarding Administrative Assistant, Amanda Hilton has announced her retirement, after many years of service to MEBS. Amanda has been on medical leave since Term 3 and, following surgery, has experienced a number of setbacks in terms of recovery. It was hoped that Amanda might return this term, but that was recently extended to Term 1 2026. Amanda has decided that it is time to retire to manage her health and well-being. We will miss Amanda and wish her all the best for the future.

Mater Dei Year 12 Graduation
It is always a pleasure to attend the Graduation of our Boarders from their respective Colleges. I attended the Kildare Graduation last term and more recently, the Mater Dei on Friday, 14. The former students, both boys and girls, looked amazing. Mac and Chelsea received an award as Boarding Captains. Campbell, Chelsea, and Mac received their Graduation Certificates from Principal, Val Thomas.

2026 Boarding Leaders

The following Boarding students have been appointed as Boarding leaders for 2025/26:
Kildare College Boarding Captains: Scarlett Chambers and Jett Nguyen
Mater Dei College Boarding Captain: Maisy McCrone
Nagle House Captain: Mia Hines (MDCC)
Rice House Captain:Samuel Thomson (MDCC) / Jett Nguyen (KCC) (Shared Role)
BRC (Boarding Representative Council) Leaders: Maya Prentice (MDCC) and Samuel Thomsen (MDCC)
It is pleasing to see that through the BRC/ student voice, the completion of the Boys' laundry located in the Rice House courtyard. The main laundry is located in the Nagle House courtyard and has operated from there going way back when MEBS was a girls-only Boarding House. The Boarders recognised that there was a need for a laundry on the boys side especially during the evening when the two houses are separated by locked doors. The new laundry and the adjacent toilet block have recently been refurbished.
