Upper Secondary (Years 9-10)
In week 5 and 6 students have been learning about the different season between Aboriginal seasons and Australian seasons. The students have been learning about the Bardi people and how they have 6 seasons. In Maths students have been learning about different graphs and interpreting data and have been learning about money and the value of money. This week was also Russ Jackson Day where students volunteered to do a job around the school.
This week in travel training 9/10 A-C went to the shrine of remembrances to learning about Remembrance Day. Students got to look at history from the wars. 9/10 D-E went to the Melbourne Zoo to practice using transport to different locations around Melbourne.
In the Café 9/10C have been cooking burrito bowls. They have been a huge hit, and the students are very thankful for all staff that have order and supported the café program. 9/10A have been serving the dine in staff and have been enjoying the experience, while 9/10B have been amazing in marketing the café and collecting payments.
Senior Secondary (VPC/ASDAN)
Cape
Today at work experience students are at Cape solutions recycling baby formula. As this formula is not good for human consumption they recycle is for crop use.
Hospitality & Cookery
Hospitality and cookery students have finished their course for this year. They visited South Melbourne market this week to look at different food and produce. They travel train their with their teachers.
Driver's Education
Driver’s education: VPC students have absolutely loved drivers education! Everyweek students practise road safety questions, getting them ready for their Ls. Students have had ago at driving automatic and manual cars.
ASDAN students have been enjoying exploring the community during Friday travel training. We practice journey planning, using public transport safely and what to do if there is a change to our plans. This week we have been using centre information maps to locate particular locations within the community. We have been engaging in problem solving activities as we navigate Highpoint Shopping Centre and Preston Market.
