Languages in the Junior School
Our Junior School students have been enthusiastically developing their language skills and cultural knowledge this term!
In Chinese, students learnt about the Mid-Autumn Festival, exploring traditional customs, stories, and mooncakes while learning new vocabulary related to the celebration.
I learnt about the lanterns in the Moon Festival. It was really interesting to see how different cultures celebrate. – Ivy J6
I learnt that mooncakes represent the moon, and that during the celebration, families and friends gather to share the occasion. I really enjoy learning about different cultures in Languages. – Isobel J6
In French, students created vibrant “All About Me” posters, using key phrases to introduce themselves, describe their friends and families, and share their likes and interests—all en français!
I loved using all my French words on my Tout sur moi poster. It was a fun and creative way to practise my French! – Millie J5
It has been wonderful to see our young linguists growing in confidence and creativity as they explore new languages and cultures.
