Tomorrow we celebrate World Teachers’ Day, a special opportunity to thank our wonderful teachers for the care, creativity and commitment they bring to our St Paul community each day. We give thanks for the way you reflect God’s love through your teaching, guidance, and encouragement, supporting the growth and wellbeing of every child in your care. Their work extends far beyond the curriculum; inspiring minds, building confidence, fostering relationships and nurturing each child’s sense of belonging in our school community. We are truly blessed to have our team of teachers here at St Paul. If you have a chance this week, please join us in celebrating our teachers by extending your gratitude and appreciation for all they do.
Later this term, we will also take time to celebrate and acknowledge our amazing LSOs and non-teaching staff who serve our community with the same spirit of faith and dedication.
Last week, our Year 5 and 6 children enjoyed their camp week. The Year 5s visited Adare in Victor Harbor, while our Seniors stayed at Murraylands Aquatics Centre at Swanport. Both camps offered valuable experiences, filled with adventure, opportunities to challenge themselves and moments to develop personal resilience. The children strengthened meaningful connections and built their teamwork skills, thriving as they stepped out of their comfort zones with enthusiasm. Thank you to the volunteers who came along and supported our children and staff on camp, and to our teachers and team who made camp possible.
Some highlights from the children include:
A highlight for me was kayaking. It was super fun! - Aafia, Year 5
I really loved the flying kiwi because we went really high in the air - Thea, Year 5
I loved the flying kiwi because we swung so high and you could see the ocean from the top - Archie, Year 5
My favourite activity was the tribal games because everyone was able to be together. We were able to win lots of tribe points and be competitive - Naman, Year 5
I really liked the catamarans as you needed three people to operate it, and it was fun to tie the ropes and float on the water - Pete, Year 6
Something that was challenging was water skiing because you had to have the right amount of balance to get out of the water - Averlie, Year 6
A reminder that next week is Swimming Week for our Reception - Year 4 children. As you will have seen in all swimming communication this year, only registered volunteers are able to join our classes for their swimming sessions. Please note that, as this is a privately hired venue, only registered volunteers may enter the facility. Unfortunately, any visitors who are not registered St Paul volunteers will not be permitted onsite for child safety reasons.
It’s not too late to volunteer to help out on Sports Day!
Sports Day will be held this Friday, 31 October. We are looking for people interested in helping with the BBQ sausage sizzle on the day. If you have some availability and would like to help out, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to Jess for more information or to share your availability for the day jrobinson@stpaulba.sa.edu.au
As Term 4 begins, as a school, we also look ahead to the new year. An important component of this planning is the process of allocating children into classes for the following year.
Each year, our educators spend a significant amount of time crafting class lists that aim to set all of our learners up well for the next year of their schooling journey.
If you have any significant information that you feel would benefit teachers in this planning, or that you feel is important for us to be aware of, we ask that you please share this information with Graham Buxton by 9am next Monday, November 3 using the email address below. This includes information that has been shared on previous occasions or with other staff members, as otherwise we may not be aware and able to consider this information.
As always, we take seriously the trust you place in us as educators to make the best decisions we possibly can for all children.
Any information can be shared with Graham at gbuxton@stpaulba.sa.edu.au and must be received by 9am next Monday (November 3) in order to be considered.
