Hello from 1/2 Skye
Respect, Responsibility and Kindness
Hello families, week 5 has been a busy week of learning for us, we have spent the first 5 weeks re-establishing our classroom expectations and deep diving into our learning;
Mathematics
This week, we have been revisiting multiplication in fun and hands-on ways! Students have been exploring “groups of” using different materials to build their understanding.
We’ve used number lines to practise skip counting, and even created arrays with playdough to see how multiplication works in real life.
It’s been wonderful to see students making connections between repeated addition and multiplication! Included is some of our work from students
Literacy
Our Grade 2 students have been busy becoming advertisers! They created their very own slogans and company ideas, using persuasive language to convince people to “come and see them.” The creativity and thought that went into these slogans have been fantastic.
Meanwhile, our Grade 1 students have been focusing on spelling patterns with ‘dge’ and ‘ge’ at the ends of words, helping to strengthen their reading and writing skills.
Swimming Recounts
We’ve proudly displayed our swimming recall writing pieces outside our classroom. Students reflected on their swimming experiences and shared what they learned and enjoyed — make sure to stop and take a look!
Gardening
Our green thumbs have been hard at work!
This week, we were able to take home our snow peas, which we started growing a fortnight ago. The students loved seeing how much their plants have grown and learning about caring for living things, we look forward to seeing how much larger they get and hopefully become snow peas for our students to enjoy. Perhaps, even in our lunchboxes!

Respect and Inclusion – Our Matrix Learning
We’ve been learning about the different parts of our school matrix, focusing on Respect and Inclusion. We’ve discussed what respect and inclusion look like, feel like, and sound like, and how we can support others both inside and outside the classroom. Students have shared thoughtful ideas about kindness, fairness, and how small actions can make a big difference in helping everyone feel safe and valued.
