Prep - This term, students will be focusing on Earth and space science; learning about the weather and how it affects our daily lives.  This week, we discussed how the year is divided into seasons and how each season has different weather. Students reviewed pictures of the four seasons and thought about the temperature (hot, warm, cool, cold) and weather conditions in each of the seasons.

Years 1/2 - This term, students will be focusing on design technologies and learning to follow the engineering design process. The focus will be on turning ideas into solutions. This week, students focused on completing their Snail and Ant STEM challenges. Some students began working on a Mythical Creature challenge. Students are required to build their model and then test it against the specific criteria given at the beginning of the challenge. You will be able to see students' snail builds on Seesaw.

Years 3/4 - This term, students will be focusing on design technologies and following the engineering design process to create suitable solutions to problems. This week, we continued working on our Zipline STEM challenge, testing and videoing our carrier taking a Lego figure down a zipline. Students assessed if their carrier and zipline met the specific criteria and reflected on their learning. Their Zipline challenge will be posted on Seesaw.

Years 5/6 - This term, students will be focusing on design technologies and following the engineering design process to evaluate, refine and improve their solutions. This week, we continued working on our Balloon Car STEM challenge, with students testing and videoing their car in motion. In many instances, the balloon cars did not work first time requiring some redesigning and rebuilding. Students have had to show resilience and persistence throughout this challenge.
