Mrs Christine Larsen, Curriculum Leader - Arts
On Monday of Week 8, the Arts Faculty presented an evening of drama and music performances, film screenings and an exhibition of visual art, to display the work of our talented Years 7 – 10 students. Thank you to Arts staff across the Drama, Media, Music and Visual Art Departments, and in particular Stacey Finch (School Officer – The Arts), as well as our technical production team, Jack Johnson and Denver Jensen, for their behind-the-scenes work in facilitating the evening. We would like to thank students and families who came along to enjoy the evening. “Liveworks” will return in 2027.

Art Club and Games Workshop will conclude for Term 2 this week (Week 9). We thank Old Boy Harry Marshall (2025) for co-ordinating Dungeons and Dragons and Year 12 student Hudson O’Neill for facilitating Warhammer this semester. Their expertise in these games is greatly appreciated, and they have shared their knowledge with students across all year levels who have participated. All clubs will return in Week 2 of Term 3. Information and details will be posted in the Newsletter at the start of Term 3.

In Art club in Week 6, students participated in three rounds of speed drawing. Following each round, voting took place to determine a shortlist of three students for a masters round.
James Macfarlane (Year 6) was the last man standing, with his portrait of Ben produced in three minutes.

We congratulate Elliot McDowell in Year 8 who has been awarded June’s “Artwork of the Month” for the linoprint he produced based on radial symmetry.
An enthusiastic group of students has been gathering in the Art Department during break times to try their hand at wheel throwing, creating handmade ceramic vessels including vases, bowls and mugs. The finished pieces are now being put to good use, as students gather to enjoy cups of tea from their handmade mugs and eat noodles from bowls they crafted themselves.
