Mental Health Motivations

You are a valuable part of our TEAM

Friendship and understanding friendships is important. Over the next two newsletters I will be giving some ideas to navigate the paths of friendships.

Last week was Part 1 for adults supporting students and this week will be Part 2 for the students.

The Magic of Friendship

Friendships are a huge part of life. Friendships can bring so much laughter and fun into our lives but, at the same time can bring sadness and upset. Learning how to navigate relationships is just like learning to read or ride a bike, it takes time and practice.

For Students: The Friendship Toolbox

Did you know that being a good friend is a superpower? Good friendships are built using the right tools. Here is how you can use your friendship toolbox:

  • Be an Includer: If you see someone sitting alone at recess or lunch, invite them into your game. A simple "Hey, do you want to play with us?" can make someone’s whole day.
  • Weather the Storms: Arguments happen, and that is okay! Just like a rainy day, friendship storms pass. Taking a deep breath and finding a compromise helps the sun come out again.

Check the Traffic Lights

🟢 Green Light

Friends listen to you, share, and make you feel happy.

🟡 Yellow Light

Friends might be a bit bossy or leave you out sometimes.

It is okay to take a little break from them.

🔴 Red Light

Actions are bullying, name-calling, or hurting others.

If you see or experience this, always let your teacher know straight away.
