Principal Report 

It is hard to believe that we are more than halfway through Term 3. 

School life at Berwick College continues to be a full and vibrant experience. While we have achieved so much, the next couple of weeks include Book Week, Flynn and Hollows House Day, school sport competitions, the national Dance championship, annual Music Concert, a week of Year 10 work experience, progress reports, student learning conferences and the teaching and learning program. 

The school also continues its relentlessness on improving student learning and wellbeing outcomes by building and holding a positive school culture that holds both staff and students to account for their contribution. 

We have recently received the results from the Attitudes to School Survey that students completed in Term 2. I am most proud to share that nearly every marker was up by at least 10% in 2026. A positive response to School Connectedness increased by 17% from 2025 to 2026. This included 19% of students who responded positively to the statement, 'I feel proud about being a student at this school'. There was an 18% increase of positive responses to 'I feel happy at school'. Fifteen per cent more students thought that learning at Berwick College was stimulating. Ninety-two per cent of students at Berwick College know that their teachers expect them to produce their best work. These results are a small snapshot of the increased positivity and productivity that is being felt across the school. 

The strategic decisions and actions that are leading to these increased outcomes are evidence based and informed by student, parent and carer, staff opinion. 

The Parent Opinion Survey is designed for schools to gain an understanding of families' perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement. The opinions of Berwick College parents are vital in determining a range of school wide actions. I will send parent opinion survey links out via Compass over the coming week. Please do take the time to provide your feedback. The more feedback we gain, the more likely we are to provide a learning environment that supports students to become people of purpose, character and capacity whose contributions strengthen communities.

Finally, for the remainder of Term 3 I have been seconded into the Department of Education. Andrew Barker will act as Principal in my stead. I know I leave the school in safe hands.
