Year 10

Outdoor Environmental Studies

In the last week of Term 3, the Year 10 Outdoor and Environmental Studies students traveled to Lorne as part of their ‘Sustainable Interactions with the Environment’ and ‘Motivations for Outdoor Experiences’ areas of study.

The class arrived at Lorne’s main surf beach and learned how to use a surfboard thanks to the help of the instructors from Go-Ride-A-Wave surf school. The students braved the chilly waters, and I’m proud to say that every student was able to catch a wave in the tough conditions! After drying off, the class traveled to The Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie where students saw firsthand how chocolate is produced, and learned about sustainable practices within the chocolate industry and how the company is reducing its carbon footprint. Naturally, there were samples for the students to try, before there was time for lunch and to browse the Chocolaterie’s gift shop. I was very proud of the way the students represented the school, conducting themselves brilliantly all day.

A big thank you to Alla for the excellent photos she took of the day!
