Entering partial absences on Compass

Please follow the instructions below if your child is:

  • arriving late
  • leaving early
  • being collected during the day for an appointment, and returning to school afterwards

Please only put an attendance note on Compass if your child will be absent for the whole day, or a series of days (eg holiday or prolonged illness).  If they will be late, collected early or leaving during day for an appointment  PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THIS PARTIAL ABSENCE ON COMPASS. Your childmust be signed in/out with Compass Kiosk at the office, and this becomes your 'note' that is automatically fed through to the class roll.  Having both a parent-entered note and a Kiosk notification causes the system to fail.

 

Please use the following process for partial absences:

 

LATE ARRIVAL

If your child is late to school (for even just a few minutes), they must FIRST come to the office to collect a Late Pass from the Compass Kiosk (using the Parent Drop Off tab) before going to the classroom.  Your child will appear as 'late' on the classroom roll, with the arrival time noted. Please do not enter a late arrival on Compass via your app.  If you know your child will be arriving after 10:00am, you may ring the school office and advise us of the time  so that you do not receive a 'please explain' SMS AT 10am.  Please note:

  • If the parent signs the student in via Compass, the absence is automatically approved
  • If the student comes in unaccompanied, office staff will print a Late Pass for them and the parent will receive an absence notification request for approval.

EARLY LEAVING

If you are collecting your child early, you must FIRST come in to the office and sign the student out via the Compass Kiosk (using the Parent Pick Up tab) before taking your Departure Slip to the teacher.  The child will not be released to the parent without a Departure Slip.  Your child will be recorded as an 'early leaver' on the classroom roll, with the departure time noted.  Please do not enter an early departure on Compass via your app.  If you wish to advise the teacher beforehand, please email them directly.

 

COLLECTING DURING THE DAY FOR AN APPOINTMENT

If your child has an appointment during the day and you will be collecting them from school and returning them afterwards, you must FIRST come in to the office and sign the student out via Compass Kiosk (using the Parent Pick Up tab) before taking the Departure Slip to the teacher.  When you return from your appointment, please sign them back in via Compass Kiosk (using the Parent Drop Off tab) before returning your child to their classroom.  The time your child leaves and returns to the school will be recorded automatically onto the class roll.
