School Council News

Exciting projects are on the way!

With the generous support of the Warrandyte Community Bank, we have two fantastic projects on the horizon that will benefit our students:

Creative Play and Learning Space: The design for this new space (in the area between the admin and prep buildings) is being finalised, with works hopefully to start early in the new school year. The bank's grant of $45,000 will go a long way towards making this project possible - however to enable us to include all the features our students would love, we will need to raise funds to meet the shortfall of around $25,000.

New Playground:The Warrandyte Community Bank has generously committed $20,000 towards a fantastic new playground to replace our aging playground near the front gate. The school will need to match the funding to make the project possible.  We are so grateful for the bank's support and look forward to working with our students to hear their ideas about the final design.

Our partnerships sub-committee is planning fundraising activities to support both these projects, including a mango drive and chocolate drive this term.

Keep an eye on Sentral and your email inbox for more details of upcoming events.

Can you help?

Fundraising helps us bring to life many of the improvements and projects planned for our school. We are always looking for more people to support our partnerships team to make our fundraising activities a success.

You do not need to be on school council to join the partnerships sub-committee. If you are interested in lending a hand, we'd love to hear from you - please contact the office.

Springtime Graze

The recent Springtime Graze at  Vue on Halcyon was a wonderful evening, which raised more than $6500 towards the above projects and importantly, provided a valuable opportunity for members of our school community to gather and connect.

An extra-special thank to Rennae and Dean Rackley from Vue on Halcyon for hosting this event at your beautiful venue - we are truly grateful for your generous and continuing support of our school.

A very big thank you also to sponsors Auselectrical, Eastern Generators, The True East, Vallack Constructions, Complete Building and Maintenance Services, Sunliner and the Garratt and Stones families for your generous support of our event.

And last, but definitely not least, to Sharmini Philp, Narelle Evans, Jodie Winterton and Jane Smith for organising this special evening.

Performing Arts Space

We are thrilled to see the performing arts space up and running, and are looking forward to its inaugural school community event - the Prep concert - on November 15.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to concretesales.com.au (Craig and Narelle Evans) for donating the concrete for the pathway to the space.

School council meeting report

Our school council holds eight meetings a year, where we review school finances and consider recommendations from the council sub-committees. At most recent meeting on Monday 23rd October, school council:

  • Agreed to extend TheirCare's licence to provide out-of-school-hours care.
  • Ratified the policies outlined in Adele Brice's Assistant Principal's report.
  • Approved formats for next year's school photos with a new school photos provider, The School Photographer.
  • Considered fundraising events for 2024 - details to come.

Our next meeting is on Monday 20th November at 7pm. Visitors are welcome to attend.

As we near the end of the year, we are looking ahead to 2024. With some council members' terms ending this year, we will be seeking nominations for new members early next year. Find out more about what a school council does here and if you are interested in joining our school council, please contact the office for more information.
