🌊Platy Project: 🌊

During the past few weeks, we as Year 5/6  leaders, have been preparing for the Platy- Project. Finally, on Thursday the 14th of September, we presented our hard work to the younger classes.

The Platy Project is a program where families are invited to head down to their nearest creek around dusk or dawn and look for a platypus.

The Platy Project only occurs in September, so for all the families that want to go down to a creek, you don’t have a very long time. All people are invited to become CITIZEN SCIENTISTS. So sign up, get out to your nearest creek or river, add your information about your trip on the Platy-Project website, especially if you are lucky enough to spot a platypus.

The website has a tool kit with a map that you can add to, to help scientists find out more about our platypus population.

Everyone had an amazing time presenting our presentation. All the students that we presented to also had a great time and learnt a lot about platypuses and how they can protect them in the future. They looked like they really wanted to join in on the Platy Project to help preserve our amazing platypuses.

We really hope everyone learnt something new about Australia’s beloved species. All students were given a bookmark with more information.

So these school holidays, we hope you get out there and give it a go!
