Wellbeing Week

Wellbeing Week

This week we celebrated Wellbeing Week at GRPS!

The purpose of Wellbeing Week was to provide our students with the knowledge, skills and tools to manage their own mental health and wellbeing. The activities we planned focused on the PERMA model which includes five elements essential to human wellbeing and flourishing: positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning and achievement.

Make it Meaningful Monday (Engagement)

To kick off the week, our Friend-o-Leaders met students at the kiss and drop and walked them to their classrooms. At lunchtime, Mrs Bosomworth opened up the Art Room to create 'Sand Art Mandalas' which the children loved! After the break, a mindfulness session was played over the loud speaker. And to end the day on a positive note, each class took the time to answer the question - What Went Well?

Terrific Tuesday (Positive)

Classes visited the Smile Project - a photo wall with props set up ready to strike a pose and have some fun.

The Year 4 and 5 students started the ‘Cool Guys’ and ‘Girlosophy’ Programs. The facilitators from The Human Development Workshop work with single gender groups to deliver activities, group discussions, team games and group/individual challenges. Activities centre around mental health and wellbeing, resilience, communication, problem solving, help seeking behaviour and friendships.

Work Your Magic Wednesday (Meaning)

Every class completed a kindness activity - the Year 1s played kindness charades while the Year 5s created a giant donut with kindness sprinkles added by children! At lunchtime, children created Friendship Bracelets with Miss A to share with their pals.

Our Food For Families fundraiser commenced. This initiative is a great way to make a tangible difference to the lives of individuals and families experiencing hardship and crisis throughout the year. The food and household essentials are distributed at emergency relief, family services and outreach centres across Victoria. Thank you for your donations!

Thank You For Being You Thursday (Relationships)

The students had fun creating 'I appreciate you cards' to deliver to friends, family, neighbours and local emergency services. Each class ended the day by playing a round of 'Ask and Pass,' a game that promotes conversation and connection amongst the children.

Feel-Good Friday (Accomplishment)

We held our SWPBS whole school reward! The children enjoyed an extra 20 minutes of fun at lunchtime.

Every class completed a gratitude activity - the Foundation students created their own gratitude jar while the Year 4s made a wonderful gratitude tree.

The teachers didn't miss out on the fun either. There were Pilates and art classes, trivia at The Budgie and a delicious, healthy lunch.

We hope everyone enjoyed Wellbeing Week!
