Work Inspirations

Careers Experience

A group of career-focused students across years 9-11 attended The Smith Family Work Inspirations excursion in the city.

Work Inspirations is a Careers Program which connects students with industry professionals and industry partners. This year, students engaged with Kinetic IT (a corporate partner of The Smith Family).

Students gained an insight into the types of entry-level and qualified employment opportunities at innovative Tech organisations like Kinetic IT. Students engaged in a range of career-focused activities and learnt about Kinetic IT’s workplace and industry.

Throughout the two-day excursion, students engaged in three core activities, as part of the career’s exploration experience. Students completed ‘insight activities’ to learn more about themselves and their interests. Students participated in:

Students participated in:

1. All About Me session: Discovering a young person's passions and interests as the starting point for providing an inspiring first experience of the world of work.

2. Look Behind the Scenes session: Introducing young people to the wide variety and scope of different jobs and roles in any business or organisation.

3. Careers Happen session: Bringing alive for young people how careers unfold and how their first job can be the start of their journey.

A sincere thank you to Gundrun (The Smith Family, Programs Coordinator) and Linda O’Shea (Jobs, Skills and Pathways Coordinator) for assisting with the organisation and implementation of this excursion, and we extend our sincere thanks to Kinetic IT for hosting this opportunity and warmly welcoming Epping Secondary College students into their workplace.
