Respectful Relationships and Wellbeing
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope this message finds you well. We are excited to share an important event with you – our school will be observing the "Day for Daniel" on October 27th, 2023. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about child safety and protection, and it's an excellent opportunity for us to engage our students in important conversations about their safety.
In addition to our educational efforts, we will also be raising funds to support the vital work of the Bruce and Denise and the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. To contribute to this cause, we will be having a gold coin donation and selling icy poles for $2 each, the students are encouraged to wear red on the day. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to the foundation, which plays a crucial role in promoting child safety and awareness.
The "Day for Daniel" is named in memory of Daniel Morcombe, and its goal is to educate children and their families on safety and awareness. We want to ensure that our students are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to protect themselves in various situations.
To prepare for this special day, our teachers will be using resources provided by the official Day for Daniel website: https://danielmorcombe.com.au/keeping-kids-safe/day-for-daniel-resources/. On this website, you will find a wealth of materials, including lesson plans, videos, posters, and other resources designed to engage and educate students of all ages and there are sections to support parents too.
If you have any questions or need further information about how to support your child's learning on this day or about the fundraiser, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to assist and ensure that your child benefits from this important awareness day.
Let's work together to make this "Day for Daniel" a meaningful and educational experience for our students while supporting the vital mission of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. By joining forces with our school community, we can empower our children with the knowledge they need to stay safe and make a positive contribution to this important cause.
Thank you for your partnership in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and for your support of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.
Thanks
Simon Brown
