Splashing into Safety: G4 and O2 Take the Plunge with Weekly Swimming Lessons
Thanks to Variety In Action's generous donation, G4 and O2 are transported in a private bus to enjoy weekly swimming lessons. Variety In Action's support allowed us to hire a private bus for safe and convenient transportation to the pool – a game-changer for our students. These lessons go beyond strokes, instilling vital water safety skills. Instructors emphasise confidence, proper techniques, and hazard awareness. We're immensely grateful to Variety In Action for this life-changing opportunity. The private bus ensured a smooth journey whilst adding an extra layer of excitement. The impact is profound, creating ripples of positive change in the lives of our G4 and O2 students. Thanks to Variety In Action, our young people are making waves not only in the pool, but in their journey towards safety, confidence, and lifelong skills.
Building Bonds and Making a Difference: G3 and G4 Join Forces for Friendship Class
Exciting collaborations are taking place at our school as G3 and G4 students team up each week for our special Friendship Class. Focused on civics, citizenship and environmentalism, these lessons aim to nurture friendships and a sense of responsibility to our community and the world.
One standout initiative arising from these classes is our school-wide recycling program. Together, G3 and G4 have spearheaded the effort, collecting 10-cent recyclables from every class. This promotes environmental awareness whilst also teaching our students the impact they can make collectively.
Recently, during a heart warming discussion, the students contemplated how they could use the funds raised through the recycling program. In a touching display of empathy and global awareness, they unanimously decided to donate $150.00 to UNICEF, the children's charity. In the face of global conflicts, our students are exemplifying the true essence of being good citizens by reaching out to make a positive impact on the lives of others. We applaud their compassion and sense of responsibility, making our Friendship Class not just a lesson but a catalyst for meaningful change.
"Growing Green Heroes: Clovelly Park Primary's Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant Journey"
Clovelly Park Primary students were awarded a Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant, enabling them to expand their Green Grubby Club program and take sustainable initiatives to new heights. With a focus on nurturing the environment and fostering lifelong habits, these young environmental enthusiasts are making a remarkable impact on both their school and community.
Thanks to the generous support of Woolworths Junior Landcare, we have been able to diversify our initiatives and have made incredible strides in our efforts to cultivate sustainability. One of the remarkable achievements of the Green Grubby Club is the creation of a bountiful vegetable garden, bursting with an array of vegetables that the students themselves planted, nurtured, and harvested.
In addition to their vegetable garden, the students have sown native flowers to promote biodiversity, providing essential habitats for local wildlife and helping to create a more vibrant and balanced ecosystem. Their commitment to sustainability doesn't end there. The young environmentalists have set up a worm farm and hope to distribute the worm juice to the community in the future.
The impact of Woolworths Junior Landcare's support is immeasurable. Our students are not only learning about sustainability, they're also developing a lifelong passion for environmental stewardship. These valuable life skills and lessons will undoubtedly influence their choices and actions throughout their lives, leaving a legacy of eco-conscious citizens.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Woolworths Junior Landcare for making a significant difference in the lives of our students, our school, and the wider community. Together, we are sowing the seeds of a greener, more sustainable future for all.
Water Safety Skills
Many of our students attended the Water Safety (swimming) lessons at the end of last term at the Westminster Pool. Students learned a variety of skills and developed their confidence in the water in just a few days.

Uniform policy - hats required for Term 4
Our school requires all students to wear their school uniform.
The uniform policy was endorsed by the Governing Council following consultation with students, parents and staff.
The Governing Council have the responsibility to develop policy on dress codes within their school. Our community believes the wearing of our school uniform:
- promotes pride in our school
- enhances our public image
- ensures student safety
- reduces peer group pressures
- encourages appropriate clothing for school activities and excursions
- promotes a sense of equality and equal opportunity that will in turn promote self esteem
Footwear
Safe sensible footwear is required at all times. Sandals with secure straps are acceptable during hot weather.
Please note:
All articles of clothing and footwear worn by students must conform to our school policies. They must ensure personal safety and health requirements and enable students to participate successfully in all school activities.
If unacceptable items of clothing are worn (e.g. singlets, tank tops, thongs, ugg boots) students will be counselled. Where appropriate, parents will also be contacted to seek support for our school dress code.
Hats
In accordance with the school “Sun Smart” policy, all students must wear a school hat during Term 1 and Term 4.
Legionnaire or wide brim hats provide the best protection from the sun. Only hats purchased from the school are acceptable as they meet the Cancer Council recommendations.
