Principal's message

Dear Families,

It doesn't seem possible that we are more than halfway through Term 4 and that it's almost December! Where did the year go?

Term 4 is always an exciting term. We enjoyed perfect weather for our recent Sports Day and are all looking forward to our End of Year Concert on Tuesday 5 December. We also have a number of events such as our Year 6 Graduation, excursions and incursions.   Please keep an eye on See Saw and check in with your children to ensure you don’t miss any celebrations.

As we head towards the end of the school year, teachers have started working on class placements for 2024.

Thank you to everyone who returned information to inform our class placement process.

As the due date for the return of this information was last Monday, if you are still to provide this information, it will need to be returned by Friday 24 November to enable it to be considered as part of our processes.

Teachers take the following aspects of students learning and development into consideration during this process:  Academic, social and emotional development, wellbeing, and learning environments that optimise student learning.

This is a complex task and many individual and whole school aspects are taken into consideration.

At times we have had families ask about composite classes. There are many reasons we have composite classes. We would like to re-assure families that all students are stretched and supported in all areas of their learning. Teachers focus on skill building for every student.

Teacher placement is also a complex task, and we don’t always complete these placements until the last minute. All teachers at Clovelly Park are highly skilled and dedicated to all students.  A lot of discussion, thinking and planning goes into the placement of every child before class lists are finalised.

As our class structure is directly linked to student numbers, any change in numbers can have an impact on the structures and staffing. If you are planning on moving out of the area, can you please ensure you communicate this with our front office staff. If you know of families that are moving into our area, please encourage them to enroll their children for 2024 as soon as possible as this will provide us with information that influences how many classes we will have.

As the sun is out and the UV rating is consistently in the high/extreme range, please support your child to have their school hat with them every day to ensure they can access yard play.

I am aware that some of our families are returning to their home country before the end of the school year. We hope that you are able to enjoy some precious time with family members. Please travel safely and we look forward to seeing you when the 2024 school year begins on Monday 29 January.

For those not travelling prior to the holidays, we look forward to seeing you at the End of Year celebration if not before.

Kind regards,

Terena Pope
