Principal's Message

End of Term

We conclude the last week of what has been a particularly busy term. Amongst a wide array of college events, Winter Sports, Athletics Carnivals, Christian Service activities, Wellness Week, the Catholic Performing Arts Festival and various assemblies, excursions and presentations, our boys have been strongly encouraged to strive for personal excellence throughout. This is particularly true of our senior Year 12 boys as they enter the final stages of their formal schooling and prepare for their College Graduation. In recent weeks, all Year 12 students have been busy completing final assessment items and preparing for upcoming exams.

Throughout this final week of term, many of our Year 12 students have commenced their Semester 2 Examinations. These important exams will continue in the second week of the ‘holiday break’. Similarly, some of our students enrolled in practical Courses will take part in their respective WACE Practical Examinations throughout next week. This is all part of their preparation for the written WACE Examinations that commence on 30 October. As always, we wish the boys well during this busy time and remind them that hard work and commitment bring due reward. It is important that our senior students commit wholeheartedly to achieving their best over the coming weeks. We are very proud of our Class of 2023 and look forward to joining them in celebrating their Graduation on 19 October.

We are also very much looking forward to our annual Secondary School Presentation Night which will be held at the Perth Concert Hall on Tuesday, 17 October commencing at 7.00pm. Extensive planning and preparation has been underway for several weeks as we seek to acknowledge our respective Student Award recipients and showcase some of our talented students through the various performance items. Notification to Student Award recipients for Years 7-11 has been emailed to families in recent days, with families of Award recipients in Year 12, for both General Subjects and ATAR courses, to be emailed as soon as Marks and Grades are finalised. The Presentation Night is a wonderful occasion for celebrating our sense of community.

As is normally the case in a large school such as Trinity College, we will see some Staff changes at the end of this term.

Mrs Donette Firkins (Learning Support) will enjoy some extended leave during Term 4. We wish her a wonderful, relaxing and fulfilling break. We acknowledge Mr Gordon Dean, Mr Rod Rainer and Mr Alex Waldren who have completed short-term positions throughout this term and wish them well for the future. We thank Ms Jessica Kelly who completed a short-term contract in Students Services and moves into the Learning Support area in Term 4.  We also take this opportunity to thank the efforts of Mr Ray Kosovich (Director of Christian Service) and Ms Amanda Mariotti (Head of Year 9) who have been very generous and hard working in completing the respective Acting roles.  Next Term, we welcome back Mr Craig Adams, Ms Joanna Creighton, Mr Barry McKenna, Mr Corey Miskiewicz and Mrs Marya Stewart who are returning from a period of extended leave.

Finally, I take this opportunity to thank the staff, students and their families for their ongoing efforts and support during Term 3. The students will commence next term on Monday, 9 October and they should be dressed in their full College summer uniform.

I hope that everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing holiday break.

Live Jesus in our hearts

Mr Darren O’Neill
