Drama

Year 11 have had wonderful success this term learning about the "in’s and out’s" of the ‘Elements of Production’. They have studied the roles within theatre from stage crew and management, right through to design. As well, they have had the opportunity to explore these roles in class, through our very own production of ‘Play School: the Mater Dei Version’.

Year 11 worked together in groups, taking full control of the acting, prop and set designing, lighting and sound to develop a show for our special guests: Mater Dei Primary School’s Kindergarten class. Year 11 Drama had the "Kindy’s" laughing, clapping, singing and dancing as they delivered popular songs and created an interactive experience for their audience. Overall, this term has been a success for year 11 as they dive into Preliminary Course exams and prepare for year 12 next term.

Year 12 have worked hard this term in the lead up to their HSC Performance Night and the submission of their HSC pieces. Week 5 saw Year 12 delivering their group and individual performance pieces to a panel of markers for feedback before the launch of their HSC performance in Week 7. Plenty of energy, dedication and focus went into the creation of their major works, inclusive of one student developing a costume design portfolio and another student taking on an extensive 3000 word Director’s Portfolio.

Year 12 have represented the Drama department with work of the highest quality this term as well as throughout this year. Students are proud to have completed their practical work to send off their studies in Drama, and are now focusing on the successes of their theoretical exam next term.
