Manufacturing and Engineering
Year 11 students have started their Toolbox project and have focused on teamwork to produce their frames to a very high standard using an assembly line process. Students have been developing a wide range of skills during this time in preparation for their upcoming work placement early next term.
Manufacturing and Engineering students in Year 12 have been developing their skills in fabrication, spray painting and welding. Most students have finished their Toolbox project and have moved onto smaller skills-based projects until they finish at the end of this term. Students are reminded to please take projects home at the end of this term.
Business Services
Year 11 Business students have been working hard to meet all their competencies for Business Basics 2.1 and 2.2. They have been focusing on using digital technologies to communicate in the workplace, and various ways of engaging in effective workplace communication. Students have also been brainstorming ideas for creating a class business where they can practise their skills in delivering a service to customers, producing business documents and communicating effectively with key stakeholders. Stay tuned for more information about this in Term 4.
Construction
Year 11 Construction students have been learning how to use a number of carpentry tools including the Drop Saw, Chisels, Planer and Jigsaw to create a Plywood Toolbox. The students will then begin the construction on the Group Dog Kennel Project. This task gives students an opportunity to work in teams and learn skills associated with framing, cladding and painting techniques.
Year 12 are in the final stages of the course. Students have completed all the practical elements of the course and are now completing the last of the theory work. The students will now focus on the exam and completing a number of practice papers to refine there examination skills.
Hospitality
Hospitality students in Year 11 have had a productive term working on competencies in creating simple dishes and non alcoholic beverage creation. Their theory work has seen them come close to finishing the requirements of their second cluster of competencies and are on track to finalise this in term 4.
Students have made battered fish and chips with salad, Chicken Nasi Goreng, Chicken Caesar Wrap and Sour cream and sweet chilli chicken wraps. They have created with a growing willingness to try a range of different drinks and ingredients. This has included teas, french press coffee, iced chocolates and coffees, milkshakes, layered juice based drinks, spiders and pink hogsters and shaken drinks.
Year 11 students completed industry work placement with Pear Tree Cafe which has built their confidence and understanding of industry requirements. This is part of the preparation undertaken for their Term 4 Work Placement in Week 5.
The final term for Year 12 has seen the achievement of First Aid Certificates and completion of Trial examinations. Year 12 have been cooking recipes of their choice and spent the last weeks of the term completing as many of their competencies as possible and revision for those students who are choosing to sit their HSC examination.
