Fun Friday Electives
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, we commenced our Friday electives last week. All students across Prep - Year 6 participated in a cross-age elective. As we moved around each elective, we could hear the positive buzz from both teachers and students about what they were doing.
Electives Prep - Year 2
Board Games - the students are learning to play different board games correctly and cooperatively.
Drama games - the students are participating in drama games to build their skills of communication and drama.
Origami - the students are using origami paper squares to fold and create amazing paper creations.
Gymnastics - using our gymnastics equipment, the students are learning the basic skills of gymnastics.
Music - the students are learning beat, rhythm and singing.
Art - the students are using clay to make their own original creations.
Science - the students are following scientific procedures to observe chemical reactions.
Electives Year 3 - Year 6
Learning about Japanese culture: origami - the students are following instructions on how to fold paper in complex ways to create origami.
Planting and growing - the students are learning about the natural world and observing the growth of their planted seeds.
Art - the students will learn about shading and how to use the grid method to create a self portrait.
Basketball - the students are learning how to use the space across the basketball court effectively as well as learning the specific skills of basketball.
Yoga - the students are learning about and participating in yoga sequences.
Dance - the students are learning a choreographed dance.
STEM - the students are using Lego to design solutions to STEM challenges.
The electives will occur over the first four weeks of the term. We will also hold them again in 2024.
