T20 Division Girls Cricket

On Wednesday, October 11th, the Senior girls played their Division Cricket Finals at Yarra Valley Grammar.  We played to the best of our abilities, with 17 wickets overall.  We won our first game 57-113 against Ringwood North Primary School, and 68-137 against St Anne's Primary School. We are now through to Regionals on Friday, November 10th.  All of the players were amazing, but there are a few shout-outs for Emily M, who was amazing enough to get four 4s and three wickets. Olivia B got four 4s in a row and Dinuli M got four wickets. Holly Y got three wickets.  The rest of the team got one or two each. The girls team couldn’t have gotten this far without the help of our lovely coach, Miss Gommers and all of our fabulous drivers who got us there.

TEAM:  Emily M, Charlotte W, Emma L, Sara R, Olivia B, Holly Y, Tara S, Chloe L, Grace B, Dinuli M.  Jasmine F was sadly away for the day but will be back for Regionals.

Good luck and I hope a number of our young artists have a go at this year's Student Art Prize.

Library News

Welcome back to Term 4.  It is so hard to believe that the year is almost over. The last week for borrowing from the Library will be the week commencing November 13th, to give time for all the books to be returned and for stocktake to commence.

SCHOLASTIC BOOKCLUB

Today everyone should receive a Scholastic Book Club brochure. We only send out Scholastic brochures twice a year – once in Term 3 and again early in Term 4.  If you don’t receive yours there will be limited spares available from the Library or you can just go online to https://www.scholastic.com.au/book-club/book-club-parents/ to view Brochure 7 and place your order.  In this issue, families can get even more savings, with 50 EXTRA BOOKS only available online and are all reduced by 60-80%!  More details on the back page of Book Club.  If you choose the LOOP option (explained on the order form) you order your child’s individual items and pay for them.  No paperwork needs to be sent to the school. Your order will be received with the school’s orders and will be delivered to your child’s classroom along with the orders of the other students. This is the only way to pay by credit card.

Scholastic have also advised me that there is a new feature in the catalogue, BooksPlus to make browsing even more enjoyable.  Families can scan the QR code on featured titles for additional content including sneak peeks inside the books, book trailers and much more.

The orders are due back by Wednesday 18th October.  If you try to put through a late order once the school has closed the orders you will be given the option to pay postage and have it sent directly to your home address.

Cash orders are sent to the school.  No orders are to go to the Library or class teachers – they are to go directly to the Office.  Please ensure that these orders have Name and Class on both the order form and the envelope.  If you want orders as gifts, just put your name and a phone number on the order form and mark it clearly as a gift. There is also a ‘Gift’ option if you pay by credit card, (however this is outside my control if it comes back from Scholastic with your child’s name on it.  I don’t think this has ever happened). We will contact you when they arrive at school and hold them at the office for you to collect. We do earn valuable points for every purchase made, which are used for new library books. Your support is greatly appreciated.

The OSHC & Vacation Care Team

From Sophie & Nicole in Sickbay......

We are now well and truly into 'Allergy Season', with its associated sneezing, runny noses and itchy eyes.  If your child suffers from allergies, please ensure they receive their required anti-histamine dose in the morning, before coming to school.  We do not hold generally-available anti-histamine in Sickbay, so are unable to offer relief unless previously arranged by parents/carers and medication provided.

Medical authorities are also warning that this could be a bad Thunderstorm Asthma season.  If your child is vulnerable, please check emergency updates and liaise with the school over management requirements.
