We are learning to use a grid reference system to describe locations. 

VOCABULARY

Grid reference:

A grid reference is a method of describing a location using intersecting vertical and horizontal grid lines, indicated by numbers and/or letters.

Coordinates:

Coordinates are a set of values that display the position of a specific point in space. These positions are marked according to numbers on the horizontal axis (x-axis) and the vertical axis (y-axis).

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask your child to draw a map of their bedroom.

Have them create grid coordinates.

Ask your child to then name the location of three things in their bedroom by using the grid coordinates.
