We are learning to draft an explanation report that considers that audience and purpose.

VOCABULARY

Explanation report: 

A report that explains something. They might tell you how or why something happens, or give information on how to do something.

Cause and effect: Cause is why something happens, and effect is what the result is.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask your child to create simple cause and effect statements with these sentence starters and colour code the cause and the effect in each sentence.

·    Tsunami waves grow bigger as they reach shore

·    Magma moves upward through an opening called a vent
