The Kindergarten students enjoyed an outdoor excursion to the Sustainability Centre at Mount Nelson. They were exposed to a rich variety of learning opportunities associated with ways to care for our environment and recycle materials. Armed with magnifying glasses and picture charts of flora and fauna, the Kinders went in search of ‘bugs‘ and ‘creepy crawlies’ to identify, as well as spotting their new word of the day…..”scat” ( native animal poo!). The students were then invited to engage in imaginative play and construction using recycled ‘bits and pieces’ (loose parts). The students were mesmerised in their own little worlds, busy at innovative play in nature with simple recycled materials. The common favourite of course was WATER and MUD!

Year One

Year 1 had the most wonderful experience at Arts Evening. We remembered all the tricky words in our Habitats Song, and all the moves for our dance about compassion. We were so proud of ourselves!

" I was nervous at the start but it was so much fun on stage I wasn't nervous at the end, just happy and smiling.'

Another highlight was showing off our artwork in the Library, explaining to our parents how we made our collages and dioramas. Each student also had the opportunity to choose their favourite piece of art from the whole exhibition. The Year 5 portraits of ballet dancers were a big hit. As well as the cityscapes from Year 3. Well done everyone for all your hard work!

Year Three

It was so exciting, I couldn’t wait. Everyone was talking to their friends but then Ms Green told us to be quiet. The Year 2’s act just ended and then it was our turn. I walked up the steps, anxiously. My palms were sweaty. As I walked on stage, I saw my parents and it gave me courage to do the act. I sat down on the floor and it was cold. Once the act was over the crowd went wild.

Our Fiddlesticks Performance

We sat and chatted while we waited for the choir people to finish. Our chatter rose as the choir came closer and closer to finishing their song. They finally finished and it was Fiddlesticks’ time to shine. We walked out to where we were sitting for our performance and sat down. Luke, our Fiddlesticks teacher, told the audience what songs we were going to play. We started with the Tibetan Tune doing pizzicato, then we did the Skye Boat Song with our bows playing D, G, D1 and A chords. When we had finished, the audience applauded us. After that, we went back to the classroom to meet our parents and went home or got some food from the food stalls.

Year Five

The two Year 5 classes performed a dance which was choreographed around the theme of Charity.  The music chosen was 'Brave' by Ella Hendersen.

The Year 5 classes also sang "The Best Song Ever" with our students playing drums, ukulele and bass guitar as accompaniment

Three of our students were awarded recognition for their artwork - Isabella Fabrizio, Isobel Souah and Lacey Trask.
