Literacy and Numeracy Week
Next week, we will be celebrating Literacy and Numeracy Week. We have a full, fun week of fantastic activities occurring in the Library and around the College:
Our Wonderful Library Staff
We have a delightful library team at Pakenham Secondary College who are, of course, passionate about reading and learning, as well as creating a warm, welcoming and vibrant library for our staff and students.
Our library helpers have been a wonderful support to our library this year. They help loan books, shelve library items and assist with library projects. Seen here with Ms Gargano and Gabe, are three of our helpers; Molly from 8.2, Vinshika from 9.4 and Alex from 9.3 (Zoey from 9.5 was absent when the photo was).
We would like to thank our helpers, as well as our amazing staff, Mr Anderson (missing from the photo), Gabe and Ms Gargano, for all of their work in making our library such a wonderful place for us to visit.
Author Visit
Renowned author, George Ivanoff, will be visiting the College on Tuesday, 5th September, to speak to our students. George has written over 100 books for children and teenagers, including fiction and non-fiction texts. His books appear on the Victorian Premier's Reading Challenge booklist.
George will be at the College to share his journey as a writer, including the skills and challenges of being an author, where his inspiration comes from, the writing, redrafting and the complete process of getting a book published.
The Premier's Reading Challenge
There are two weeks left for the Premier's Reading challenge. Don't forget to sign into your account to log your books.
There are new books in the library for you, including the winners of the Children's Book Council of Australia's 'Books of the Year', so come along and borrow!
If you have any questions or need help please speak to anyone of our fabulous library staff!
