Junior Art
In these last two weeks the Preps, 1’s and 2’s have continued with their painting, practicing control over the quantity of water they use with their artworks. Last week after exploring the wax resist technique that begins the picture with oil pastels, this week we have reversed the process by starting with paints. These larger artworks took two sessions to complete and the effects of using mixed media to add details that could not be achieved with paint alone has resulted in some excellent outcomes. In the final week of term students will make an artwork and chose for themselves which approach to take in order to best realise their creative intention.
Senior Art
The seniors have been working hard on a variety of projects. Year 3 and 4 students were inspired by Guiseppe Arcimboldo, using oil pastels they created portraits made up of different fruits, vegetables and foods.
Year 5 and 6 students have wrapped up their screen printing classes with some Styrofoam board prints. They patiently worked to create their reuseable printing boards inspired by artist Jimmy Pike and his echo drawings. The designs and prints produced were stunning!
