Happy Krishna Janmashtami !

We would like to wish our Hindu DPS families a very Happy Krishna Janmashtami! We hope those that are celebrating on September 6th and 7th have a wonderful day!

What is Krishna Janmashtami? Krishna Janmashtami is a Hindu festival celebrated to commemorate Lord Krishna's birth anniversary.

During this festival, Hindus are likely to forgo sleep in order to sing bhajans, traditional Hindu songs. Many Hindus also fast during the first day of the festival. Dances, songs, and plays depicting the life of Krishna are common.

On the first day of the celebration, activities culminate in a “Krishna puja,” a devotional form of worship using a form or an image, such as an idol of Krishna. After midnight, statues of Krishna are bathed in milk and water, dressed in new clothes and honored in homes and temples.
