Child Safety

Child Safe Standard 7 (Ministerial Order No. 1359 clause 11) emphasises the importance of processes for complaints being child-focused, culturally safe, and accessible to children, young people and their families, as well as staff and volunteers. As part of this standard, schools are required to have policies, procedures and practices in place for taking complaints seriously, and for identifying and responding to concerns relating to all forms of child abuse whether or not the law requires reporting.

Empowering students to raise low-level concerns improves the likelihood that they will feel comfortable making a disclosure or reporting abuse.
