Grade 2 Writer's Festival

On Wednesday, the Grade 2 students hosted their Writer's Festival. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase all the wonderful writing they have achieved over the past few months. The students presented both an Imaginative Narrative and an Information Report on their favourite animal. Thanks again to the parents for coming along to support.

Reading

This Term the students have been identifying the main idea in non-fiction texts.  They have been using strategies to show a deeper understanding of fiction texts such as making connections, exploring, mapping and visualising settings and stretching our vocabulary by investigating interesting words.  Students have also been expanding their knowledge of grammar and learning more about nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs and using these skills in their writing.

Maths

We have been learning about money, multiplication and division strategies, months and seasons, fractions and perimeter and area. The students have enjoyed creating mathematician’s notebook entries as a reference resource of their mathematical knowledge. They have been continuing to consolidate and extend their learning using the Essential Assessment platform.

Inquiry

In Inquiry we have been learning about Children Around the World.  Their customs, food, clothing and school. We have been finding out about geography, include the states of Australia, the Seven Continents and Oceans of the World.
