Opus 4

Opus 4, compered by our Year 6 Music Leaders, was a wonderful evening, showcasing our various music ensembles in the Primary School. From our young singers in Piccolo Choir to our Year 6 musicians, there was great excitement and anticipation with many happy faces and proud moments. We were also fortunate to be able to feature our Irish Dancers for their first public performance, and their excitement was immeasurable!

Canzona

On Saturday evening, Canzona joined BBC’s Camerata and College Strings in a performance of Vivaldi’s Gloria in D Major. We are so fortunate to have a great partnership with our colleagues at BBC, to allow our students the opportunity to collaborate and share our experiences together.

Private Instrumental and Vocal Tuition Billing

As we draw closer to the end of term, this is a timely reminder for parents to notify the Music Department if your child is withdrawing from Private Tuition. Late cancellation of lessons will result in a two week cancellation fee. Please send an email to kgordon@clayfield.qld.edu.au by the end of this week.

At the end of term, Instrumental Tutors will advise their students if there are any lessons owing due to explained absences. These lessons will be credited on the next term’s fee statement.

Please see the following link for 2023 Tuition fees and Terms and Conditions related to Private Instrumental Lessons.

Drama

The Scene Project (Year 10)

The Year 10 students presented a powerful performance, based on Steve Pirie’s, 1000 points from Zero, as part of the Queensland Theatre Company’s, Scene Project. The students devised a physical theatre piece using stylised movement, symbol and relationships to challenge the audience’s perception on technology.

The Scene Project is about collaboration, acknowledging students and teachers as artists, building confidence and encouraging live performance in a professional space and manner. It is also an excellent way of participating in professional development and enhancing existing curriculum in schools.

The students should be very proud of their work and were pleased to represent Clayfield College for the first time in this theatre initiative. They will perform their scene at the LUX Arts Festival, Term 4.

Theatre for Young People (Year 6)

Our Year 6 students performed, Roald Dahl’s, The Witches, for our Year 4 audience. The students used voice, movement, and heighted reactions to entertain the audience, who were thrilled with the dramatic action.
