Book of the month
Book of the Month
We have had a really busy month this month, our students are loving the variety of new titles on display and the number of their requests that are being purchased. ‘Bookopoly’ has continued this month and we added a selection of books to the collection from the Children’s Book Council of Australia short listed books for 2023 in time for Literacy Week.
We have some great things happening in the library at the moment, recess and lunchtimes are full of students studying or simply relaxing between class times. The Chess enthusiasts are back to full strength and Homework Club, after school Monday to Thursday, is buzzing with senior students swatting up for end of year exams.
We have decided to change the way we store our Fiction Collection, going from Alphabetical by Author to grouping titles by Genre. This will allow the students to find titles they are interested in easily and to explore other genres. While there is a great deal of work involved in this change research shows that ‘genrefying’ your fiction collection promotes borrowing among the students and increases interest in the library collection in general.
Our overdue book return drives are continuing to be successful with many students clearing their accounts of long term overdue items. We would love to reduce the numbers even further, keep checking at home and in lockers for books to return!
Enjoy the next month, we look forward to giving more updates next month.
